Overlanding Central America is a bit of an adventure. Not quite the vast wilderness of South America, but it has its moments. We hopped the Darien Gap from Colombia to Panama, then got off to a cracking start ticking-off one of our long-standing bucket-list items: helping crew a yacht sailing through the Panama Canal. Next we did some panning for gold and saw a bit of wildlife in Costa Rica, but then we had a weeny snaggette getting through the Nicaraguan ‘revolution’. Having to dashing through Nicaragua on a ‘truce day’ in the troubles, meant that we didn’t see much of it. But the fabulous-ness of the much under-visited El Salvador made up for it. Honduras was just ‘nice’, Guatemala lived up to its mega-reputation and Belize packed a big (but slightly pricey) punch for such a little country. Click on the links below for each country:

Honduras El Salvador is a hard act for Honduras to follow. Honduras is nice. Not amazing… just ‘nice’. Here’s why… |
Guatemala Guatemala is a land of culture. In fact it’s a land of lots of things. So much to see and do there… |
Belize Belize is compact, but there’s still room to explore. Especially underwater… unbeatable world-class snorkelling! |
