Overlanding The Americas

On 2nd December 2015 we arrived in Ushuaia at the southerly tip of Argentina. 1,654 days later on 11th June 2020 we finally reached the Arctic Circle in The Yukon, Canada. The GPS reckons we could’ve done it in 22,318km/13,868miles and a mere 280 hours of driving. We actually took 142,892km/88,665miles and four and a half years. We did a bit of a detour from the direct route, covering 22 of the 23 countries on the mainland Americas, skipping only Venezuela.

South America

Arriving by ship into Montevideo, Uruguay was our first experience of overlanding South America and we wanted to see it all, not just the Latino bits but the far north-east too. Turns out, we became the first Brits to ever enter the European Union from Brazil by road!!

Central America

So many countries in Central America! And the least likely they are to be visited, the more we enjoyed them. Click on the picture for a link to our Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize Story.

North America

What a culture change from southern Mexico to northern Canada! We ended up very happy to be ‘stuck’ on this amazing continent for the ‘rona virus pandemic. Click on the picture for a link to our Mexico, USA and Canada story.
