I recently received a gas strut kit for the bonnet. The kit is made and distributed by Dave Anderson, they can be ordered from him by email: Lizzidman@icloud.com
The kit contains all the parts needed to install two gas struts to the bonnet. This makes it far easier and quicker when opening the bonnet for daily inspections. It’s a great modification.

Quick update: thank you to Dave and Ozy who pointed out that I have installed the struts upside down! Apparently the main section should be at the top so the oil will keep the shaft seal well lubricated. You learn something new every day. Thanks for the great feedback, photo below with them now installed correctly.
